Position: Visitor Center Manager

Responsibilities: Performs professional public relations work in managing the Ashland/Hanover Visitor Center.  Work involves greeting all visitors to the center and handling all visitor, telephone and mail inquiries to promote tourism and travel to Ashland, Hanover County, the Richmond Region and the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Employee must display an extensive knowledge of the travel industry and the Ashland and Hanover areas and must exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with members of the public. Must demonstrate ability to: provide excellent customer service to visitors; manage staffing of the Visitor Center; supervise others; and effectively use technology.
Qualifications: Requires education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree and/or two to four years of relevant experience working in the travel/tourism industry.
Compensation:

$23,261-$38,777 DOQ/DOE (+) benefits.

Position: Sales and Marketing Director

Responsibilities:

 

The Prince William County/Manassas Convention & Visitors Bureau is searching for a talented Sales and Marketing Director to join the destination marketing organization's growing team.

Located just 30 miles from Washington, D.C., Prince William County and Manassas, Virginia is home to the Manassas National Battlefield Park, Potomac Mills, National Museum of the Marine Corps, Hylton Performing Arts Center, Historic Old Town Manassas, and Historic Occoquan.

SUMMARY

Manages development and implementation of Bureau sales and marketing programs by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Directs and supervises sales and marketing initiatives with an emphasis on Prince William County/Manassas involvement in the Civil War Sesquicentennial from 2011 through 2015.

Directs the development and execution of Bureau sales/marketing plan including the Bureau's Sesquicentennial Plan and monitors its results.

Oversees Bureau Marketing Agency directing and implementing web site development, print advertising and online campaigns including creative direction and placement.

Develops and manages marketing budget.

Directs the development and execution of office-wide sales and marketing efforts to include special events, educational seminars, tradeshows, etc.

Plans and oversees development of marketing materials and activities to support meeting and group tour sales.

Develops strategies, promotions and programs to generate and track sales/marketing production.

Manages personal sales accounts.

Represents Bureau and promotes positive industry and community relationships through attendance at special events and participation in community and industry activities and meetings.

Contributes to the success of the Bureau's strategic plan and adheres to its core ideology.

Position requires occasional overnight travel.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of sales and marketing initiatives.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common industry and trade journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest commissions, proportions, and percentages.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, graphs, etc. ).  Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to meet the typical physical and emotional demands of a standard office environment.  This may include occasional lifting of boxes weighing up to 40 lb.

Position: E-Marketing Specialist
Company: Charlottesville Albemarle Convention & Visitors Bureau (CACVB)
Responsibilities:

The Charlottesville Albemarle Convention & Visitors Bureau (CACVB) will soon launch its new website, www.visitcharlottesville.org. This vastly improved online presence will present tremendous professional opportunities for the person selected to become this bureau's first E-Marketing Specialist.
 
The incumbent will work within all areas of the CACVB to ensure top-quality website content and maintenance through the site’s web-based Content Management System (CMS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) components. Position will promote individual and group travel to the greater Charlottesville area by developing innovative online offerings, such as travel packages and contests with hotels, attractions, performing arts venues, special events and annual festivals to the leisure travel market, and other marketing initiatives as needed.

Assist partners with CACVB marketing initiatives both on and off-line; Stays current with various partners/contacts as well as their content (organization, business, etc.); Maintain, update and refresh website content; Manage all social media employed, such as Facebook, Twitter, etc; Create and routinely update comprehensive reports for various audiences.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or related field is required. One year of work experience may substitute for one year of the required education up to a maximum of four years substitution. Where substitution is accepted, applicant must have earned certifications that show increased knowledge-base and progressively more challenging work assignments.

Three (3) years experience developing materials for the Internet is required. Experience in the travel industry, online travel consolidator, or equivalent experience with CVB or a destination marketing organization is required.
Must have strong writing, editing, content design, & desktop publishing skills.

Must have strong verbal & written skills, & be able to communicate to a diverse audience. Good interpersonal communication skills & a strong customer service focus required. Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite or open source software experience preferred.
