Qualifications: The person should have excellent communication skills and proven abilities to partner with media, the political environment, industry and staff.  A dynamic personality to represent tourism to the community and consumer markets is necessary - comfortable with public speaking and ability to inform and educate on the economic benefits of tourism.  A bachelors degree and minimum of five years experience in a leadership role within a tourism related entity is required. Position: Museum Interpreter
Company: City of Petersburg
Responsibilities:


DUTIES: Performs routine paraprofessional work interpreting certain cultural and historical attractions in the City to the public; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Experience with computers and computer software, i.e., Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. Keen interest and some existing knowledge of historic background of tourist attractions; ability to greet people and make oral presentations concerning historic attractions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public and other employees; ability to withstand long hours of standing and walking; ability to learn quickly and to speak clearly and effectively; ability to lift/carry items weighing up to 25 lbs.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid appropriate Driver's License issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.\

HOURLY RATE: $7.25. STATUS: Temporary/Part-Time.
