Responsibilities: The Town of Appomattox (pop. 1,761) is seeking to fill the full-time position of Director of Tourism. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, developing and implementing short and long range goals and strategies to promote the Town area as a travel destination, to provide positive impressions and experiences for area visitors and to raise awareness of and coordinate community hospitality efforts. Responsibilities include the maintenance of a visitors’ center program, overall operation and staffing of the Appomattox Visitors’ Center. Work requires marketing, cooperation with community organizations and committees as well as segment of the domestic and international travel industry and securing support for tourism development from both the public and private sectors. The Town of Appomattox is located in central Virginia with rich tradition and history.
Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in marketing, public relations, communications, business management or a closely related field and extensive experience in the tourism, travel or hospitality industry with a minimum of three (3) of experience. Position also requires experience in recruiting, training and working with volunteers.

Position: Public Relatins Manager

Responsibilities: The Richmond Metropolitan CVB is seeking a candidate to promote the Richmond Region as a tourism and convention destination through targeted media outreach. In this capacity the Public Relations Manager acts as a liaison between the Bureau and the media, develops strategic public relations plans to address specific destination marketing objectives, issues press releases, organizes press trips for travel writers, maintains the media section of RMCVB’s Web site, and plans and executes news conferences as needed to maximize media exposure. Responsibilities: The Virginia Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau is seeking a qualified individual to conduct and coordinate difficult and complex research, economic analysis, forecasting, and summarization of certain financial information for audit purposes and financial reporting; To oversee financial reporting and recordkeeping of a city agency for the hospitality industry. To research, analyzes, and summarizes various financial records to develop complex financial reports for the Convention and Visitors Bureau in accordance with uniform financial reporting standards of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Composes complex correspondence, reports and presentations, compiling financial and statistical data on the local, regional, state and national tourism industry for department director, City Council, local tourism industry partners, executive management and the general public; Review and reconcile department accounts from multiple funds with city financial records and the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. To also, project revenues and analyzes industry trends and develop forecasts for local tourism industry. Review grants for coop marketing programs and administer department grant program. Manages a clerical accounting staff in the processing of payroll, petty cash, accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, administer major contracts for marketing and events programs, assists in the development of department policies and procedures pertaining to financial and reporting requirements and work with research contractors and city government agencies to coordinate annual reports. Minimum qualifications include Bachelors Degree in either Business or Accounting, (8) years in field related experience utilizing the knowledge, skills, and abilities such as work in governmental accounting, auditing, and financial reporting; experience in managing an accounting staff, experience managing a research program for a major industry, experience in presenting complex financial data and economic trends to large stakeholder groups.
